Mahindra has expanded its bespoke electric vehicle portfolio with the debut of the XEV 9S, positioned as India’s first locally manufactured three-row electric SUV. The model builds on the momentum of the BE 6 and XEV 9e and is underpinned by the company’s INGLO skateboard platform. Available exclusively as a seven-seater, the XEV 9S is priced between 1.995 million and 2.945 million rupees (approximately €19,250 to €29,400).
The company offers three powertrain and battery combinations: a 170 kW motor paired with a 59 kWh LFP battery for the base version, a 180 kW motor with a 70 kWh battery for the mid-range variant, and a 210 kW motor with a 79 kWh battery for the top-tier model.

All three systems deliver 380 Nm of torque. Fast-charging capability ranges from 140 kW to 180 kW depending on the battery pack, enabling a 20%–80% recharge in as little as 20 minutes. The company cites driving ranges of 521 km, 600 km and 679 km respectively under full charge conditions.
Mahindra says the XEV 9S is the quickest seven-seat SUV in its class, with a claimed 0–100 kph time of 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 202 kph. Features such as variable-ratio steering and semi-active suspension are designed to enhance driving dynamics. The model also targets tech-forward buyers with equipment including an augmented reality head-up display, a 12.3-inch front passenger touchscreen, 5G connectivity, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and wireless charging pads for both front and rear occupants. Safety systems include Level 2+ driver assistance, Driver Drowsiness Detection, a Blind Spot Monitor, a 360-degree camera, all-wheel disc brakes and seven airbags.
