US truck manufacturer Mack Trucks has inaugurated a new facility for Mack Academy in Tinley Park, Illinois to better support battery-electric vehicle (BEV) training and give dealers and customers easier access to training centers.
The Mack LR Electric Truck, its first Class 8 electric truck, is now available to order and supported by dealers and training facilities at locations across the US.
Mack Academy has signed a seven-year lease for the 14,865-square-foot Tinley Park facility located in a manufacturing park outside Chicago, USA. The Tinley Park location is claimed to be newer, larger and more modern than the previous facility based in Joliet, Illinois.

Scott Behe, Mack Academy’s Senior Manager Operations said that the new facility is located in a central location, allowing dealers and customers who need training to easily travel to the facility.
“It is close to O’Hare and Midway airports, and the facilities are about 5,500 square feet larger than our previous location, thus meeting our need for more space for BEV-only training,” he explained in an official statement, Thursday (2/6/2022). ).
The BEV training focused on operating, repairing and selling BEV safety. This includes training such as engine overhaul, transmission design and function as well as parts sales and warranty.

The Mack Truck Academy now has six training locations across the US and Canada. Mack also operates training facilities in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Georgia, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Toronto, Canada.
On the other hand, the new generation Mack LR Electric trucks are also now available to order featuring 42 percent more energy and a total standard battery capacity of 376 kWh and offering a higher range than the first generation LR Electric.
The electric truck is equipped with two electric motors that produce 448 hp continuously and a peak torque of 5,492 Nm and is supported by a 2-speed Mack Powershift transmission and Mack mRIDE suspension.
