Chinese electric vehicle maker Avatr Technology, jointly backed by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, has unveiled an updated version of its Avatr 12 sedan equipped with four LiDAR sensors. The new model, named Avatr 12 4-LiDAR Edition, replaces the 2025 Avatr 12 introduced in May.
The Avatr 12 4-LiDAR Edition maintains a starting price of RMB 269,900 ($38,020), though a limited-time RMB 10,000 discount brings the effective price down to RMB 259,900. The vehicle’s four LiDAR units — three long-range sensors and one high-precision solid-state unit — provide 360-degree perception coverage with centimeter-level accuracy, enhancing the sedan’s advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

The updated model offers two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants and four battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The EREV variants start at RMB 269,900 and RMB 289,900, while the BEV variants are priced between RMB 289,900 and RMB 429,900. The five-seat sedan retains its original dimensions of 5,020 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height, with a 3,020 mm wheelbase.
Both EREV variants are rear-wheel-drive with a single 231 kW (310 hp) motor producing 333 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. They are equipped with CATL’s 52.01-kWh Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, providing a CLTC range of 356 km on battery power alone, and up to 1,270 km combined with a full tank of fuel.

The BEV variants feature a 94.53 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering CLTC ranges of 705 to 755 km. The entry-level BEV is a single-motor rear-wheel-drive model with 237 kW peak power and 396 Nm torque, accelerating to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The three higher-end BEV variants use a dual-motor setup, adding a front motor with 165 kW peak power, achieving 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The Avatr 12 series was first launched on November 10, 2023, followed by a 2024 model year update in March and the previous May 2025 update. The 4-LiDAR Edition underscores Avatr’s focus on advanced sensing technology and expanding its competitive presence in China’s premium EV market.
