Luxeed, the electric vehicle (EV) brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery, has relaunched its first model, the S7 sedan, with significant improvements after facing production challenges since its initial launch in November last year.

Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s automotive business, reintroduced the Luxeed S7 at the HarmonyOS Eco Spring Communication event, highlighting key enhancements and pricing adjustments aimed at boosting its competitiveness in the market.

The entry-level version of the Luxeed S7 retains its starting price of RMB 249,800 ($34,520), but all other variants now come at a reduced price, lowered by RMB 20,000.

Notably, the entry-level version now features an increased battery capacity of 82 kWh, up from the previous 62 kWh, resulting in an extended CLTC range from 550 km to 705 km.

The re-launched Luxeed S7 is available in five variants — Pro, Max, Max+, Max RS, Ultra — with starting prices ranging from RMB 249,800 to RMB 349,800, respectively.

At its initial launch in November 2023, the model was offered in four variants — Pro, Max, Max+, Max RS — with starting prices ranging from RMB 249,800 to RMB 349,800, respectively.

The price of the Pro version remains unchanged, while the Max, Max+, and Max RS variants have all seen a price reduction of RMB 20,000. Additionally, the Max RS is introduced as a new variant.

Following its launch last year, slow deliveries of the Luxeed S7 led to customer complaints on social media. As of January 20, the production pace at Chery’s plant in Wuhu, Anhui province, was insufficient, with fewer than 10 vehicles produced per day.

However, recent efforts have led to significant improvements, with Luxeed now achieving an average production rate of one S7 per minute, enabling volume deliveries to begin.

Chery’s chairman, Yin Tongyue, emphasized the company’s commitment to Luxeed, highlighting the establishment of a separate business unit and an exclusive manufacturing industrial park for the brand.

Huawei’s Richard Yu praised Chery’s efforts, noting that Luxeed’s S7 has already started mass deliveries. The model, based on Huawei’s high-voltage platform, boasts a CLTC range of up to 855 km and is available in single-motor and dual-motor versions.

The entry-level variant of the Luxeed S7 now features the basic version of Huawei ADS, the company’s vision-only solution-based assisted driving system. Meanwhile, the more expensive variants offer the full-featured Huawei ADS, including assisted driving in urban areas.
