Luvly Introduces the Luvly O: A Compact and Energy-Efficient Electric Microcar for Urban Living

Sweden, known for its commitment to sustainability, is home to a new startup that aims to revolutionize urban mobility. Luvly, which stands for “Light Urban Vehicle,” is developing a range of micro EVs that are not only affordable and efficient but also environmentally friendly.

The company’s first model, the Luvly O, is a two-seater electric vehicle that weighs less than 400 kilos and measures only 2.70 meters in length and 1.53 meters in width, making it perfect for urbanites. It is powered by two exchangeable battery modules, each weighing 15 kilograms, and uses only 6 kWh per 100 kilometers.

Safety is also a top priority for Luvly. The company uses a sandwich-structure composite to form a safety shell with energy-absorbing foam material, which it calls “slow formula racing tech.” The vehicle also adheres to European quadricycle regulations.

But what sets Luvly apart from other microcar companies is its unique production and logistics concept. The mini-cars will be manufactured at a central facility and transported in individual parts, much like IKEA furniture. This not only makes transportation more efficient but also enables the company to pack parts for 20 full cars in one shipping container.

Luvly also claims that its production process is environmentally friendly, using recyclable parts and saving up to 80% energy during production and operation compared to conventional full-size cars.

The Luvly O is priced at 10,000 euros, making it affordable for many city dwellers. While the company has yet to publish a production schedule or actually build a factory, it has ambitious plans to develop a sporty buggy trike and a small van with the same production and logistics concept.

Luvly CEO HĆ„kan Lutz founded the company on the belief that cars need to be smaller, especially in Sweden. His vision is not only to create affordable and efficient vehicles but also to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.

While Luvly’s journey is just beginning, it’s exciting to see a startup with such a unique and sustainable approach to urban mobility. As cities continue to grow and become more congested, micro EVs like the Luvly O may become a more common sight on our streets.
