Lucid Group said deliveries of its lower-priced Gravity Touring SUV are scheduled to begin next month, reaffirming that the long-awaited trim remains on track despite recent production setbacks.

After reporting third-quarter earnings earlier this week, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff acknowledged that production of the company’s flagship electric SUV has faced delays in recent months. “Gravity production is not where we want to be,” Winterhoff said, citing several “extraordinary headwinds” that at times “threatened to shut down production” during the year.

Lucid has been contending with ongoing supply chain shortages affecting key materials such as magnets, aluminum, and semiconductors. Despite these challenges, the company expects the Gravity model line to make up the majority of its output and deliveries in the fourth quarter.

“October deliveries are climbing, especially for Gravity,” Winterhoff said, adding that Lucid remains confident the final quarter of the year will mark a turning point in its operations.

Lucid’s head of communications, Nick Twork, also confirmed on social media that the lower-priced Gravity Touring will begin reaching customers in December, replying “Yes!” when asked if the company was on track for the rollout.

Currently, Lucid offers only the Gravity Grand Touring, which starts at $94,900. The upcoming Touring trim will start at $79,900, making it about $15,000 cheaper than the existing model. While Lucid has not yet released full specifications for the new version, the Grand Touring offers up to 450 miles of range, rapid acceleration, and 120 cubic feet of cargo space, more than a Ford Explorer.

The introduction of the more affordable Gravity Touring is expected to broaden Lucid’s customer reach and strengthen its position in the competitive luxury electric SUV market as it continues to navigate production and supply challenges.
