German electric vehicle (EV) market newcomer Lucid Motors is expanding its sales strategy beyond company-owned showrooms, aiming to partner with established dealerships in 12 to 15 cities, with plans to eventually grow to 50–60 locations across Germany.

Until now, Lucid has sold vehicles directly through its own “Lucid Studios” in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich, as well as showrooms in Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands. Between January and August 2025, just 136 new Lucid vehicles were registered in Germany, including 13 Lucid Gravity SUVs, which are not officially due for delivery until 2026.

“Lucid wants to be represented in key German cities and give dealers the opportunity to develop further,” said Lawrence Hamilton, Lucid’s European head, in an interview with Automobilwoche. “A dealership group could start at one location and expand if successful. Investment requirements will be kept to a minimum, as we are offering a shop-in-shop system within existing dealerships.”

The move comes as Lucid looks to broaden its European presence and compete with premium brands such as Mercedes-Benz. Its European product lineup includes the Lucid Air electric sedan, starting at $69,900 in the U.S., and the newly premiered Lucid Gravity SUV, with a starting price of €116,900 for the Grand Touring variant and €99,900 for the Touring version.

Lucid has also been strengthening its production and supply chains globally, partnering with firms including Alaska Energy Metals, Graphite One, Electric Metals, and RecycLiCo, and recently secured access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. In July, the company reported its third consecutive quarterly delivery increase, reflecting growing momentum for its EVs internationally.
