Li Auto has filed regulatory updates for its current lineup, with plans to introduce upgraded versions in May, according to filings published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The updated models—Li Mega MPV and the Li L9, Li L8, Li L7, and Li L6 SUVs—appear in MIIT’s information change filing catalog rather than the new model filing catalog, indicating no changes to core components.

The main upgrade involves replacing larger LiDAR sensors with smaller ones, extending advanced driver assistance (AD) capabilities to lower-priced variants equipped with the AD Pro system.
Li Auto’s AD solutions include AD Pro for entry-level variants and AD Max for premium trims. Currently, AD Max utilizes Hesai Technology’s AT128 LiDAR, while AD Pro lacks LiDAR.

The company confirmed that the AD Max system will transition from dual Nvidia Orin-X chips to a single Thor-U chip, supporting enhanced Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) functions and upcoming Vision Language Action (VLA) large-model AI capabilities.
AD Pro will also be upgraded, swapping Horizon Robotics’ Journey 5 chip for the J6M chip and adding LiDAR, bringing its active safety performance closer to AD Max.
