Lucid Motors, the electric car manufacturer, is set to integrate LG Display’s 30-inch range OLED panels in their upcoming models. According to industry sources, the supply timeline has been delayed due to financial difficulties faced by Lucid. However, LG Display is expected to start producing the panels in the fourth quarter.
The OLED panel that Lucid plans to use will be based on a two-stack tandem model, featuring two layers of red, green, and blue emission layers. This technology offers improved picture quality and lower power consumption compared to existing liquid crystal displays. Lucid’s existing electric car models currently use 34-inch liquid crystal displays.

LG Display is a leading supplier of panels to various automakers, including Mercedes-Benz’s EQS sedan, which launched in 2021, and other premium car brands such as Porsche. In contrast, Tesla, the world’s largest electric car maker, currently only uses LCD panels in its cars.
LG Energy Solution, another subsidiary of LG, is the exclusive supplier of cylinder batteries to Lucid Motors. The parent company, LG Chem, signed the contract with the electric car maker in 2020, and the deal is set to last until this year.
