Lexus has revealed the new Lexus TZ, a fully electric three-row SUV based on the upcoming Toyota Highlander BEV platform that is expected to reach European markets next year.
The Lexus TZ becomes the latest addition to a growing family of large electric SUVs developed by Toyota and its affiliates. The model follows the recently introduced Toyota Highlander BEV and the Subaru Getaway from Subaru, both of which share much of the same underlying technology.
While the Highlander BEV is initially intended for North America, Lexus plans to offer the TZ in Europe beginning in 2027.

Lexus described the TZ as a “six-seat, fully electric premium SUV” designed around the concept of a “Driving Lounge,” aimed at combining luxury, comfort and driving performance.
The SUV measures 5.10 metres in length and rides on a wheelbase of 3.05 metres. Lexus will offer the model with two battery options: a 77-kWh pack and a larger 95.8-kWh version.
According to the manufacturer, projected driving range is expected to vary between 450 and 540 kilometres depending on configuration, although homologation has not yet been completed.
The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, with Lexus estimating a 10% to 80% charging time of around 30 minutes.

Unlike the Toyota Highlander BEV, which is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions, the Lexus TZ will be sold exclusively with all-wheel drive.
The entry-level TZ variant produces 230 kW, while the higher-output version delivers 300 kW. Lexus said the more powerful model accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 5.2 seconds, compared with 6.4 seconds for the lower-output version. Both models are electronically limited to a top speed of 180 kph.
Lexus said the cabin design draws on its Omotenashi hospitality philosophy and Takumi craftsmanship approach. The interior features three rows of seating with individual second-row seats and a lower rear floor enabled by the absence of a fuel tank.
The company added that the design allows for improved third-row accessibility and greater comfort for passengers in the rear seats.

“Electrification – a battery electric vehicle – emerged as the method for realising these values because it offers an ideal blend of driving enjoyment and evolution,” Takeshi Miyaura, chief engineer for the project, said in a statement.
“In addition to the Lexus experience of ‘seeing, riding and driving,’ we now offer the new value of ‘spending time’ inside the vehicle,” Miyaura added.
The interior also incorporates illuminated bamboo trim elements developed using a proprietary film technology from Lexus. The cockpit includes a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14-inch central multimedia screen integrated with the navigation system.
