LEVC Unveils TX Access: A Fully Accessible Electric Taxi for Inclusive Urban Transportation

London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has announced the launch of the TX Access, an upgraded version of its electric taxi designed to cater to the needs of wheelchair users and accommodate up to six passengers. The new vehicle offers enhanced accessibility features, according to LEVC.

The highlight of the TX Access is its full wheelchair accessibility, facilitated by a direct access ramp that conveniently folds away into the floorspace. LEVC emphasizes that the ramp ensures swift deployment and adjustability, providing a seamless experience for wheelchair users. Built on the existing TX electric taxi platform, the TX Access features the same eCity drivetrain, offering a total range of 333 miles, with a pure electric range of 78 miles and a minimal CO2 emission of only 14g/km. LEVC also mentions that both the TX and VN5 models received an extended range boost in May, shortly after LEVC introduced its new BEV platform, the Space Oriented Architecture (SOA).

In addition to wheelchair accessibility, LEVC has incorporated other thoughtful features into the TX Access. Passengers can benefit from a swivel seat that pivots outside the vehicle, allowing hassle-free access. The large door aperture ensures easy entry for wheelchair users, and optional grab handles and seat edges provide additional support if needed. However, the TX Access isn’t exclusively designed for those with mobility disabilities. It also offers various communication options, such as a hearing induction loop, braille embossed controls, and a microphone system, enabling seamless contact between passengers and the driver.

Alex Nan, CEO of LEVC, expressed the company’s commitment to revolutionizing urban transportation and providing inclusive mobility solutions with the launch of the TX Access. By leveraging the renowned TX platform, LEVC aims to serve a new market of passengers and contribute to a sustainable future where transportation is accessible to all. In January, LEVC revealed its plans to transition to fully electric vehicles following a significant investment from its parent company, Geely.
