Leapmotor has started production of its B10 compact SUV at the Zaragoza plant in Spain and presented the A05 for the first time in Europe, expanding its manufacturing and product presence in the region.
The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer announced the developments on Monday at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Leapmotor founder Zhu Jiangming and Leapmotor International CEO Danilo Annese jointly unveiled the models.
The Zaragoza facility, developed through the partnership between Leapmotor and Stellantis, uses Stellantis’ manufacturing infrastructure to produce vehicles for the European market. Leapmotor described the production start as a milestone in its “in Europe, for Europe” localization strategy.
Expanding Local Production in Europe
The Zaragoza operation represents Leapmotor’s second attempt to establish vehicle production in Europe. The company began manufacturing its T03 small electric car at a Stellantis plant in Poland in 2024, but Stellantis ended that production program on March 30, 2025.
Chinese media reported in August 2025 that B10 production in Zaragoza was scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, followed by the B05. The official announcement came after that previously reported target.
On May 8, 2026, Stellantis announced an expanded partnership with Leapmotor that included plans for an additional production line at Zaragoza for a new Opel C-segment electric SUV, with production scheduled to begin in 2028. Stellantis also plans to transfer ownership of its Villaverde plant in Madrid to Leapmotor International’s Spanish subsidiary.
B10 and A05 Expand the Model Lineup
The B10 is the first global model in Leapmotor’s B series. It went on sale in China in April 2025 before making its European market debut at IAA Mobility in September 2025. An updated version launched in China in July 2026, with a starting price of 99,800 yuan, equivalent to approximately $14,830.
The A05, known internationally as the B03, made its European debut at the Paris Motor Show. Launched in China on August 11, 2026, the model measures 4,200 millimeters long and has a wheelbase of 2,605 millimeters. Although classified as a sedan in China, its body style is closer to that of a compact hatchback.
The A05 is available in China with 39.8-kWh and 53-kWh battery packs, offering respective CLTC-rated driving ranges of 405 kilometers and 510 kilometers. A Qualcomm 8295 chip is standard across the lineup.
It is the second vehicle based on Leapmotor’s A platform, following the A10, which is marketed internationally as the B03X. In China, the A05 competes with models including the BYD Dolphin and Geely Auto Xingyuan.
Leapmotor has not announced European pricing or a sales launch date for the A05.
D19 Showcases Range-Extender Technology
Leapmotor also displayed its flagship D19 SUV at the Paris Motor Show. The vehicle features the company’s latest range-extender technology and a cell-to-body battery architecture.
The model highlights Leapmotor’s development of vehicle architecture and smart-cockpit systems. The company has not provided further European launch details for the D19 in the announcement.
Leapmotor said its 500-square-meter exhibition stand was its largest at a European show to date and featured its broadest model lineup so far. The company first participated in the Paris Motor Show in 2024.
Access to Stellantis Charging Network
Leapmotor also announced that vehicle owners can access Stellantis’ Free2move Charge ecosystem, which provides access to more than 1 million public charging points across Europe.
The charging arrangement adds to the companies’ cooperation beyond vehicle manufacturing and distribution.
Stellantis invested €1.5 billion in Leapmotor in October 2023 to acquire an approximately 20% stake, becoming the Chinese automaker’s largest external shareholder. The companies subsequently established Leapmotor International, a joint venture in which Stellantis holds a 51% stake and has exclusive rights to sell and manufacture Leapmotor vehicles outside Greater China.
