Last Mile Solutions Expands into Central and Eastern Europe, Enhances Partnership with Electra

Last Mile Solutions is taking a significant step forward by expanding its operations into the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia, furthering its growth trajectory in Central and Eastern Europe. This move is complemented by a new initiative to strengthen their collaboration with Electra, a key player in the EV charging infrastructure sector.

The company provides a robust management platform tailored for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and energy transactions, specifically designed for charging point operators (CPOs) and e-mobility service providers (eMSPs). Managing over 1 million active charge cards and processing approximately 3.5 million charging transactions each month, Last Mile Solutions is poised to offer scalable and flexible solutions to businesses in these newly targeted markets.

Katarzyna Ciarkowsa, Regional Manager at Last Mile Solutions, expressed confidence in their approach, stating, “Our expertise and background fit perfectly with the region’s rapidly growing EV charging infrastructure. Our roaming network of over 700,000 charge points already provides extensive charging coverage across Central and Eastern Europe.” Joris Hupperets, Chief Commercial Officer, added, “The EV charging market is on the verge of explosive growth. We’ve helped our partners in Western Europe navigate a similar surge over the last ten years. Now, we’re ready to bring that expertise and momentum to the Central and Eastern European region. Exciting times are ahead.”

In addition to expanding its geographical footprint, Last Mile Solutions has announced an upgrade to its partnership with Electra through a direct peer-to-peer connection. This enhancement, utilizing the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI), is aimed at improving network speed and responsiveness, facilitating faster and more reliable data exchange. The new connection will streamline tariff management and connection maintenance, ultimately saving costs for charging point operators by eliminating hub fees for transactions.

“EV drivers who want to charge across Europe can expect a stable charging experience with up-to-date pricing information for Electra’s 400 fast-charging stations,” Last Mile Solutions emphasized. The direct connection will also enable users to remotely start and stop charging sessions via a mobile application, enhancing convenience for EV drivers.

Electra is also making headlines with its ambitious plans to install at least 20 fast-charging stations at Burger King locations across Belgium over the next two years, with similar expansions planned for Switzerland. This collaboration kicked off on October 23 with the launch of its first fast-charging station at a Burger King in Zandhoven, featuring six charging points powered by Alpitronic’s HYC400 hypercharger. Each station is designed to host a minimum of four fast-charging points, with some locations offering up to six and charging speeds reaching 400 kW. Notably, these stations will remain accessible outside of Burger King’s operating hours, providing greater flexibility for EV drivers.

To accelerate its expansion efforts, Electra recently secured a €75 million loan from four banks, covering up to 60% of the costs for fast-charging projects at Burger King and other sites.

Previously, Last Mile Solutions announced its expansion into the United Kingdom in June 2024, building on its successful operations in 22 European countries. With partnerships involving 190 charge point operators, the company is committed to delivering flexible, interoperable solutions that elevate the EV charging experience across the continent.
