Kindred Motorworks has introduced its proprietary Grayback Electric Vehicle Platform (EVP), an in-house developed system designed to enable advanced electric conversions of classic vehicles. The platform makes its debut in the company’s first customer delivery of the Kindred EV Bronco Edition and will serve as the foundation for all future Kindred electric models.

Developed over five years through a multimillion-dollar engineering program, the Grayback EVP integrates a range of proprietary and off-the-shelf components to manage core vehicle functions such as heating, cooling, battery management, and charging. The system’s name pays tribute to the USS Grayback submarine, built at Mare Island — the location of Kindred Motorworks’ headquarters.

At its core, the platform features a modular, high-energy-density battery architecture that can be adapted to different vehicle layouts. It supports multiple motor configurations to accommodate various performance needs, from all-wheel-drive setups to high-performance street applications. A dedicated thermal management system optimizes battery and motor performance, extending component life and ensuring consistent power delivery.

Vehicles equipped with the Grayback EVP are capable of up to 200 miles of range, 600 horsepower, and CCS DC fast charging. Designed for long-term serviceability, the system allows for future upgrades as battery technologies evolve.
