Kia has launched the second-generation 2027 Seltos at the New York International Auto Show, introducing a hybrid powertrain and expanded dimensions to its small SUV lineup.
The updated model will be offered with three powertrain options, including a newly added hybrid system. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine is paired with an intelligent variable transmission, while a 1.6-litre turbocharged variant delivers an estimated 190 horsepower through an 8-speed automatic. Both are scheduled to go on sale in the United States in the second quarter of 2026, with the hybrid variant expected in the fourth quarter.
The hybrid combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and introduces electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD), which Kia said is a first for a hybrid SUV in its lineup. Full specifications will be disclosed closer to launch.
The 2027 Seltos is larger than its predecessor, featuring a longer wheelbase by 2.4 inches and offering up to 8.1 inches of ground clearance. Interior updates include dual 12.3-inch displays and Kia’s Navigation Cockpit system with over-the-air update capability.
Advanced driver assistance systems have also been expanded, with features such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning and an optional 360-degree surround-view monitor.
“Packed with many standard and available features found on the all-new 2027 Telluride, the 2027 Seltos offers a thought-provoking purchase consideration for cost-conscious shoppers who crave adventure,” said Orth Hedrick, Executive Director of Product Planning at Kia North America.
