Kia UK has announced an expansion of its PV5 electric vehicle lineup for the 2027 model year, introducing a new entry-level Cargo variant and a seven-seat Passenger model as part of its broader Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy.
The additions arrive less than a year after the PV5’s launch in the UK and are aimed at widening the vehicle’s appeal across both commercial and passenger transport segments.
Order books for the new models are scheduled to open on June 8, with first customer deliveries expected in October.
New Entry-Level Cargo Variant
The new PV5 Cargo L1/H1 becomes the entry point to Kia’s electric van range and is targeted primarily at urban operators.
The model features a wheelbase that is 200 millimeters shorter than the existing L2/H1 version and offers 4.0 cubic meters of cargo volume, compared with 4.4 cubic meters in the larger variant.
Despite its smaller dimensions, the L1/H1 provides a payload capacity of 800 kilograms, slightly higher than the L2/H1 model.
Initially, the van will be offered in a two-seat configuration, with a three-seat version planned for early 2027.
The vehicle will be available in both Essential and Plus trim levels and can be specified with either a 51.5 kWh standard-range battery or a 71.2 kWh long-range battery pack.
Kia estimates a WLTP driving range of up to 177 miles for the standard-range version and up to 243 miles for the long-range model.
Pricing starts at £27,355, and all PV5 Cargo variants remain eligible for the UK government’s £5,000 Zero-Emission Van Grant.
Updates Across Cargo Range
Kia has also introduced a series of updates for the broader PV5 Cargo lineup.
The changes include revisions aimed at improving driver comfort, the introduction of a new composite bulkhead and a shorter roof antenna.
The company plans to further expand the commercial vehicle range later this year with additional variants, including the high-roof PV5 Cargo L2/H2 model announced previously.
Seven-Seat Passenger Version Added
Alongside the commercial vehicle updates, Kia will introduce a seven-seat PV5 Passenger model targeting families, shuttle operators, taxi fleets and ride-hailing services.
The vehicle features a three-row seating layout in a 2-2-3 configuration, sliding side doors and a low step-in height of 399 millimeters.
Built on Kia’s E-GMP.S platform, the model offers 318 litres of cargo space behind the third row, increasing to 785 litres when the rear seats are folded.
In the UK, the seven-seat variant will be available exclusively with the 71.2 kWh long-range battery, providing a driving range of more than 390 kilometres.
Prices start at £36,995 for the Essential trim.
New Passenger Trim Level
Kia has also expanded the PV5 Passenger range with a new Elite trim level, positioned above the existing Essential and Plus grades.
Features include electric sliding doors, ventilated front seats, surround-view and blind-spot monitoring systems, as well as upgraded upholstery and exterior finishes.
All PV5 models are covered by Kia’s seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle warranty, while the battery pack is backed by an eight-year warranty.
The expanded lineup reflects growing competition in the electric commercial vehicle and people-mover segments as manufacturers seek to address demand from businesses, fleet operators and private customers transitioning to electric mobility.
