Kandi, an electric vehicle manufacturer from China, signed a partnership with Hunan Hengrun Automobile for the production of electric vehicles under the Henghe name.
The cooperation includes a concrete division of labor and will be clarified in a separate agreement. There are no details on the amount of production between the two sides. In addition it does not detail the financial scope of the framework agreement.
Hengrun has been known as a company focused on development, production, sales, accessories, spare parts and after-sales service. Hengrun is certified to manufacture cars and commercial vehicles, including electric vehicles.
No details of the vehicle will be made. The company has launched to supply 300,000 electric vehicles with replaceable batteries for various ridesharing schemes in China.
“Our collective experience in building more than 50,000 electric vehicles combined with dozens of battery swap patents gives us a strong competitive advantage in this initiative,” said Hu Xiaoming, chairman of Kandi’s board of directors.
“By leveraging our battery exchange expertise and Hengrun’s vehicle production know-how, we together hope to create significant new benefits for customers, driving the development of China’s electric vehicle industry.” Hu Xiaoming said
Kandi had previously reported to start mass production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. In addition they also produced a 2200mAh cell in the 18650 round cell format, with a gravimetric energy density of 161.8 Wh/kg at the cellular level.
