Joby Aviation and Virgin Atlantic have announced a strategic partnership to introduce electric air taxi services in the UK, initially focusing on short-range airport transfers for airline customers.
Under the agreement, Joby will operate and maintain its fully electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, while Virgin Atlantic will provide marketing and regulatory support. The initiative builds on an existing collaboration between Joby and Virgin stakeholder Delta Air Lines.

The companies aim to launch operations at Heathrow and Manchester Airport, where Virgin Atlantic has a strong presence. Joby’s eVTOL, capable of carrying four passengers at speeds of up to 200 mph, would be integrated into Virgin Atlantic’s ticketing system, allowing passengers to book air taxi services seamlessly.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Joby to bring short-haul, zero-emission flight to airports and cities throughout the UK,” said Shai Weiss, CEO of Virgin Atlantic. “Our strategic partnership combines Joby’s expertise in design, engineering and technology with the power of Virgin Atlantic’s brand and award-winning customer experience.”
