Jeep has confirmed that its all-electric Recon EV will launch in Europe in early 2027, reaffirming its commitment to the region despite recent reports questioning the model’s future.
Earlier this week, AutoExpress reported that Jeep was no longer planning to introduce the Recon EV in the UK or Europe. However, the company told Electrek that the report was inaccurate and confirmed the electric off-roader remains part of its European product strategy.
A Jeep spokesperson said the all-electric Recon is still scheduled to go on sale in Europe in early 2027.
Recon EV Still Headed for Europe
The Recon EV, an electric off-road SUV inspired by the Wrangler, recently made its market debut in the United States and Canada.
Jeep said the vehicle would initially launch in North America before expanding into Europe and other international markets as part of its global rollout.
The company also indicated that additional information regarding the Wagoneer S for European markets will be released at a later date.
Global Growth Strategy
The Recon EV forms part of Stellantis’ strategy to strengthen Jeep’s position as a global SUV brand by expanding its electrified lineup.
The automaker plans to introduce three additional Jeep SUVs featuring battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Among them will be a new flagship D-segment SUV that will be produced in China through Stellantis’ joint venture with Dongfeng. The vehicle will use Dongfeng’s platform and technology while retaining Jeep’s design identity before being exported to overseas markets, including Europe.
Jeep Europe chief Fabio Catone said the model will combine Jeep’s signature styling with the manufacturing advantages of Stellantis’ Chinese production footprint.
The flagship SUV is expected to be offered with fully electric and hybrid powertrains and could also include a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) version.
Two Additional Compact SUVs
Jeep also plans to introduce two smaller SUVs positioned below the flagship model.
One will target the compact B-segment, while the other will be a larger model positioned just below the Compass in the C-segment.
According to Catone, the smaller SUV will feature a more rugged appearance than the current Avenger while maintaining Jeep’s traditional SUV character.
Both upcoming models will be based on Stellantis’ new STLA One platform, which supports battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains across multiple vehicle sizes.
The architecture also incorporates STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and steer-by-wire technologies, enabling faster software updates, advanced digital features, and greater vehicle personalization.
With the Recon EV leading the rollout, Jeep aims to significantly expand its electrified product range in Europe as competition intensifies across the global SUV market.
