In a remarkable display of consistency and skill, Jake Dennis secured the 2022-2023 Formula E driver’s championship after establishing an insurmountable points lead over his championship rivals, Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy. The decisive moment came during the first of two races at the thrilling indoor-outdoor London circuit.

Dennis, who achieved his seventh runner-up finish in 15 races, experienced two major stretches of overwhelming success throughout the season, a feat rarely witnessed in a series where maintaining consistency can be a formidable challenge, even for champions. Out of the 15 rounds, he impressively finished no worse than fourth in 11 races, with only a minor setback during a four-race stretch in the middle of the season when he failed to secure a top-ten finish.

While current second-placed driver Mitch Evans secured four wins to Dennis’ two, the latter’s consistency, earning him podium finishes in all but a few races, proved instrumental in clinching the title. With six total podiums over the course of the season, Evans was unable to bridge the points gap.

The championship victory marks a significant milestone not only for Jake Dennis but also for the Andretti Formula E team, which achieved its first-ever title. As part of the larger Andretti Autosport apparatus, known for its participation in IndyCar, IMSA, and various other championships, the Formula E success is expected to bolster their ambitions for a Formula 1 bid, a matter that will soon receive an official decision from team owner Michael Andretti.

As the excitement continues to build, the Formula E constructor’s championship is still up for grabs, with the final race at the London warehouse circuit determining the outcome. Currently, Envision Racing holds a slim two-point lead over Jaguar, making for a nail-biting showdown to conclude the season.
