Irizar has presented two new electric bus models at Busworld Brussels — a new generation of its Irizar ie bus and the i3 electric Normal Floor — both part of its “Efficient Series” aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability. The company said the vehicles feature lighter materials, improved energy efficiency, and shared components designed to simplify maintenance and reduce costs.
The Irizar ie bus, first introduced in 2014, has been redesigned with a more compact engine and lighter construction. Available in 10-, 12-, and 18-metre versions, the city bus now supports up to 714 kWh of battery capacity and can achieve a range of around 350 kilometres.

Charging capacity has been increased to 600 kW, while the motor delivers 185 kW of power in the smaller models and 285 kW in the articulated version. Irizar said the updated model can also be registered as an intercity bus (Class II) depending on customer needs.
The new Irizar i3 electric Normal Floor, an evolution of the low-entry i3 launched in 2024, targets intercity routes and can be configured with two or three axles. It offers battery capacities of up to 528 kWh and 716 kWh, providing ranges exceeding 400 and 500 kilometres, respectively.

The vehicle supports DC charging up to 300 kW and features a 260 kW continuous-power motor. With a luggage compartment capacity of about seven cubic metres, the model prioritises passenger comfort and efficiency.
Imanol Rego, CEO of the Irizar Group, said the new range reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility. “We continue our path of decarbonisation with a technological neutrality,” Rego said. “We do believe that it’s possible to decarbonise with a range of multi-technology vehicles. Our mission is to bring the best solution to our customers, citizens and people.”
