Electric Vehicles startup INDI EV has officially launched its first electric car, INDI One, at the New York International Auto Show.
The presence of INDI One at NYIAS is one of the first public appearances of an electric car which was first introduced in October 2021. At the same time as launching at NYIAS, INDI EV also opened INDI One reservations online through its official website.
If you look at the specifications, INDI One is quite close to the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Ford Mustang Mach E.
INDI One comes in two variants, Standard with a price of US$45,000 and Premium with a price tag of US$69,000.
The Standard variant gets a rear-wheel-drive electric motor that produces around 275 hp and 410 Nm of torque. This electric motor is combined with a 75 kWh battery which has a claimed range of 230 miles or 370 kilometers.
As for the Premium variant, INDI One is equipped with two all-wheel-drive electric motors with 475 hp and 730 Nm of torque. The Premium variant gets a bigger battery, which is 95 kWh with a claimed mileage of 482 kilometers.
Now interestingly, INDI One has one feature that makes Tesla less sophisticated, namely the Vehicle Integrated Computer (VIC).
VIC is a supercomputer that functions as the main processor of the feature system embedded in INDI One. INDI EV says VIC is compatible with Mobile, Windows 10, and Android Automotive OS with an interface in the form of a screen on the passenger side dashboard.
With VIC, INDI One can provide passengers with a very wide choice of entertainment ranging from internet services to streaming. INDI EV even mentions VIC INDI One can play games from big publishers or play Virtual Reality (VR) games.
