IM Motors, the electric vehicle unit of SAIC Motor, has introduced its LS6 SUV to New Zealand under the local name IM6, expanding its footprint in the Oceania premium EV market. Deliveries are set to begin in December as the brand builds on its earlier entry into Australia.

The right-hand-drive IM6 is available in Premium, Platinum and Performance AWD variants, priced at NZ$66,900 ($37,490), NZ$77,990 and NZ$89,990 respectively. The Premium version features a 217-kW rear motor capable of accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, while the Platinum variant raises output to 300 kW with a 5.4-second 0–100 km/h time.

The Performance AWD option adds a front motor, delivering a combined peak output of 572 kW and 800 Nm, enabling a 3.4-second sprint to 100 km/h. Battery choices include 75-kWh and 100-kWh packs, offering WLTP ranges of 450 km, 555 km and 505 km depending on configuration.

The LS6 originally debuted in China in October 2023 and received an update in September 2024. The model was initially offered only as a battery electric vehicle, but IM Motors expanded the lineup in September with extended-range electric versions powered by the company’s new Hengxing EREV system and CATL’s Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery. In China, the LS6 is now sold in five BEV and four EREV variants, with prices starting from RMB 197,900 ($27,850) to RMB 291,900.
