Hyundai’s N division has introduced the RN24 concept, a high-performance electric vehicle (EV) that stands out in a market dominated by tech-heavy SUVs and lifestyle-focused pickups. Built on the Ioniq 5 N’s E-GMP platform, the RN24 emphasizes driving performance over traditional EV features, appealing to those who prioritize a raw, track-focused experience.
The RN24 concept is powered by the PE system found in Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, aiming to bring the excitement of rally driving to an electric platform. While not designed for everyday use, the RN24 embodies Hyundai N’s commitment to advancing motorsport-inspired EV technology.
“RN24 exemplifies Hyundai N’s commitment to advancing electric motorsport technology by prioritizing the driving experience rather than spec numbers,” stated Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group.
Equipped with an 84 kWh battery and a shorter, rally-sized wheelbase comparable to Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 Hybrid, the RN24 features torque-vectoring technology to optimize torque distribution across all wheels. A rally-inspired suspension setup with rally-spec dampers and high-rigidity subframes reinforces its focus on performance. The RN24’s design is completed with aluminum cooling units and an aggressive rear wing, enhancing its track-ready profile.
One of the RN24’s distinctive features is an enhanced sound system, which includes external side speakers that project sound, combined with the N Active Sound+ setup from the Ioniq 5 N. Hyundai explains that the sound is further augmented by the rear fender, creating an immersive experience that enhances the car’s high-performance appeal.
In blending advanced EV engineering with rally-inspired aesthetics, Hyundai’s RN24 concept offers a unique take on performance-focused electric vehicles, aiming to keep the driver experience at the forefront.
