Hyundai has unveiled its highly anticipated Ioniq 5 N, the first electric vehicle (EV) from its N brand, with a starting price of $66,100, excluding destination charges. The company aims to set a “new benchmark for engaging, all-electric high performance” with this model, which boasts an impressive 641 horsepower (478 kW).
The Ioniq 5 N made its North American debut at Automobility LA in November and is set to arrive at US dealerships this month. According to Hyundai North America CEO Jose Munoz, the Ioniq 5 N offers a new level of driver engagement in the world of all-electric high performance.
Developed on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and featuring a dual-motor powertrain, the Ioniq 5 N is designed to maximize the three “N pillars” of Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar.
Key features of the Ioniq 5 N include a two-stage inverter that boosts output from the vehicle’s new 84 kWh battery, delivering up to 641 horsepower. With N Grin Boost engaged, the EV’s motors can spin up to 21,000 rpm, providing the maximum power for 10 seconds.
The EV also features innovative technologies such as N Pedal, N Drift Optimizer, and N Torque Distribution, which enhance its handling and cornering abilities. The N Race feature is optimized for endurance on the circuit, enabling the fastest possible laps overall.
Hyundai has also introduced new N-tuned brakes, its most powerful braking system yet, with improved airflow and cooling. The N e-shift and N Active Sound technologies replicate the shifting feel and sounds of an internal combustion engine (ICE) sports car.
In terms of design, the Ioniq 5 N features exterior elements like a black wing and wing-type spoiler, which not only enhance aerodynamics but also add a sporty style. The performance EV is 0.79 inches lower and 2.0 inches wider than the standard Ioniq 5 N.
Inside, the Ioniq 5 N is loaded with N-branded elements, including the steering wheel, seats, door scuff panels, and metal panels, further emphasizing its high-performance nature.
With a starting price of $66,100 (excluding destination), the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N poses a strong challenge to the Tesla Model Y Performance. Including a $1,375 destination fee, the price of the Ioniq 5 N will be $67,475.
