Hyundai Ioniq 5 launches for the Indonesian market

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 launches today, Thursday (31/3/2022), coinciding with the opening of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 automotive exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been awaited by many people because it is claimed to be the first to be produced in Indonesia.

Previously, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had inaugurated the PT HMID factory in Cikarang, Wednesday (16/3/2022). At the event, Joko Widodo at the same time launched Ioniq 5 in Indonesia.

“This car is the first electric car made in Indonesia. It is produced to meet the Indonesian market and exports,” said Jokowi, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat Youtube, Wednesday (16/3/2022).

Jokowi said he hoped the Ioniq 5 could be an important milestone in the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia. Thus, spurring the development of increasingly sophisticated and attractive electric cars.

Hyundai has introduced the Ioniq 5 at the 2021 Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS) electric vehicle exhibition, which will be held in the Puspitek area, South Tangerang, 24-26 November 2021.

One of the advantages of this electric SUV is that it can cover a distance of up to 490 km on a single full battery charge. This environmentally friendly vehicle will reportedly be marketed in two variants.
