Hyundai Motor America sold 73,452 vehicles in the United States in October 2026, an increase of 5% from 70,118 units a year earlier, marking its best October sales performance on record. Hybrid sales grew 20% year on year and accounted for 29% of the company’s total volume, Hyundai said on November 3.
Retail sales increased 9% to a monthly record of 62,646 vehicles. For the first 10 months of 2026, Hyundai’s total US sales reached 770,916 units, up 3% from 748,467 in the same period last year, while hybrid sales rose 50%.
Hybrid Vehicles Account for 29% of October Sales
Hyundai’s hybrid lineup remained a major contributor to its October performance, with sales increasing 20% compared with the same month in 2025.
The company did not provide individual October hybrid model figures in its announcement, but the segment accounted for nearly three in every 10 vehicles sold during the month.
Randy Parker, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, said:
“We had our best October ever, and customers responded across our lineup,”
IONIQ 5 Sales Increase While Other EV Models Decline
Among Hyundai’s battery-electric vehicles, the IONIQ 5 recorded 1,981 sales in October, up 21% from 1,642 units a year earlier.
The IONIQ 9 sold 169 units, compared with 317 in October 2025, while the IONIQ 6 recorded no sales during the month, down from 398 units a year earlier.
Year-to-date results showed mixed performance across the electric lineup. IONIQ 5 sales totalled 33,093 units through October, a 23% decrease from 42,733 in the same period last year. IONIQ 9 sales, meanwhile, increased 49% to 6,690 units from 4,494.
Hyundai Maintains Growth Through October
Hyundai’s overall sales growth also reflected strong demand for several models outside its electrified lineup. The Santa Fe recorded 17,959 sales in October, up 52% year on year, while the Palisade reached 10,840 units, an increase of 14%. Both models achieved October sales records.
The results bring Hyundai’s year-to-date US sales to 770,916 vehicles, with the 3% increase in total volume accompanied by a 50% rise in hybrid sales.
