Hyroad Energy has acquired 113 hydrogen fuel cell trucks along with related assets from the Nikola Corporation bankruptcy auction, a move aimed at accelerating the rollout of zero-emission commercial fleets in the United States. The purchase also includes spare parts, software platforms, and intellectual property, positioning the company to strengthen its role in the hydrogen transportation sector.
The California-focused deployment is part of Hyroad’s broader plan to simplify the adoption of green technology for commercial fleets by offering turnkey hydrogen trucking solutions. “These trucks and the corresponding equipment and systems represent immediate capacity to put proven hydrogen fuel cell technology on the road to meet demand for zero-emission trucks,” said Dmitry Serov, CEO and founder of Hyroad Energy.
Beyond the vehicles, the acquisition provides the operational infrastructure needed to support and maintain the fleet, including dedicated maintenance and parts facilities. Control over software systems and intellectual property is expected to allow the company to optimize performance and develop future innovations.
Hyroad plans to focus its initial rollout in California, where hydrogen refueling infrastructure and zero-emission vehicle adoption are advancing quickly. The company also intends to support existing Nikola truck owners, aiming to maintain continuity in the hydrogen trucking market and instill confidence among commercial operators considering the shift to clean-energy transport.
