Shangjie, the new automotive brand co-developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104), has released the first official images of its debut model, the H5, an electric SUV expected to launch in the fall, after teases on Chinese social media earlier this month. The announcement comes days after the brand began its initial promotional campaign on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

The newly unveiled images reveal an exterior design that includes a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof, aligning with similar configurations seen in other Chinese electric vehicle (EV) models. Huawei confirmed that the H5 will come equipped with its ADS 4 advanced driver assistance system at launch.

Huawei executive director Richard Yu described the system as a “top-tier experience” in his Weibo post. According to Huawei, the Qiankun ADS 4 system includes a modular “world engine + world behavior model” architecture aimed at increasing traffic efficiency by up to 20%. ADS 4 supports four versions—SE, Pro, Max, and Ultra—covering smart driving capabilities from Level 2 to Level 3 autonomy.

Shangjie is the fifth brand to join Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), alongside Aito (Seres Group), Luxeed (Chery), Stelato (BAIC Group), and Maextro (JAC). Huawei formally introduced the Shangjie brand on April 16, with Yu noting that the H5 would be launched this fall and would emphasize intelligent driving features.

No official pricing has been released, though local media outlet Yicai reported earlier this year that the H5 could start at around RMB 150,000 ($20,920), positioning it as the most affordable vehicle within the HIMA portfolio. The brand’s initial investment is RMB 6 billion, and SAIC president Jia Jianxu has stated that Shangjie will eventually operate its own dedicated production facility. For now, manufacturing will take place at SAIC’s established production lines.
