Xiaomi has opened pre-sales for its new Sky Nomad extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) lineup, marking the company’s entry into China’s growing range-extended SUV market with two flagship models scheduled to launch in September.
The automaker is initially offering pre-orders for the Sky Nomad N90 Max and N70 Max, with additional Pro and standard variants expected to follow after the official market launch.
Xiaomi Begins Pre-Sales for Two Sky Nomad SUVs
The flagship Sky Nomad N90 Max carries a pre-sale price of 299,900 yuan (approximately US$44,170), while the N70 Max is priced at 259,900 yuan.
Customers in China can reserve either model with a refundable 1,000-yuan deposit, which also provides priority in production scheduling.
The pricing positions the N90 Max below Tesla’s six-seat Model Y L, while the N70 Max competes in a similar price range to Li Auto’s recently launched Li L6.
The Sky Nomad series is Xiaomi’s second vehicle family after the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV and represents the company’s first expansion from battery-electric vehicles into the extended-range electric vehicle segment.
Speaking during the launch event, Xiaomi founder, chairman and Chief Executive Lei Jun said cumulative deliveries of the SU7 and YU7 have exceeded 700,000 units.
New Platform and Extended-Range Technology
The Sky Nomad lineup is built on Xiaomi’s newly developed Kunlun technology architecture, which combines a dedicated vehicle platform, an extended-range powertrain and an integrated safety system.
The N90 Max features dual-motor all-wheel drive with a combined output of 310 kilowatts, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds.
According to Xiaomi, the SUV offers a CLTC battery-only driving range of 464 kilometers and a combined driving range of up to 1,705 kilometers.
The N70 Max is available with 52-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate and 76-kilowatt-hour ternary lithium battery options, providing up to 505 kilometers of CLTC electric driving range.
Both models support Xiaomi’s Hyper Autonomous Driving (HAD) system and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 cockpit platform together with Nvidia’s Drive Thor assisted-driving processor. The N90 Max additionally features a rear-facing solid-state LiDAR sensor.
Xiaomi also introduced its Dragon Armour battery system, which it said has been developed specifically for extended-range vehicles and exceeds China’s national battery safety standards.
The Sky Nomad series is expected to play a central role in Xiaomi’s automotive expansion strategy as the company targets annual vehicle deliveries of 550,000 units in 2026.
