Huawei has slashed the official selling price of its ADS (Advanced Driving System) premium feature package by nearly 17%, a move expected to influence pricing dynamics in the smart driving sector where the company holds a strong position. The standard price for Huawei’s ADS one-time purchase option from July 1 to December 31 is now RMB 30,000 ($4,130), down from the previous RMB 36,000, the company announced recently.

Monthly and annual subscription rates for the software remain unchanged at RMB 720 and RMB 7,200 respectively, according to a statement from Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions business unit.

Similar to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, Huawei’s ADS enables point-to-point assisted driving on highways and urban roads. The latest ADS 3.0 was unveiled at Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions launch event on April 24, alongside the introduction of Huawei’s Qian Kun intelligent vehicle solutions brand.

In contrast to Tesla’s pricing structure in China, where Basic Autopilot (BAP) software comes free with all vehicles and Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) is priced at half of the FSD option, Huawei’s move marks its first official price reduction for ADS despite previous discount offerings.

Previously, Huawei offered ADS 2.0 at a reduced price of RMB 18,000 before December 31, 2023, and later at RMB 26,000 between January 1, 2024, and March 31, 2024, indicating a strategic shift in pricing strategy for smart driving solutions.
