The Neta E, an electric 4-seat coupe from Hozon Auto, has been spotted in China in what appears to be preparation for its official unveiling or a photoshoot. The car has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for sale in China, and the debut is expected to happen soon.
The Neta E is a large coupe, measuring 4.7 meters in length and 1.98 meters in width, making it larger than the Tesla Model 3. Despite its size, it has a fairly short wheelbase of 2.77 meters, which is 9 cm shorter than that of the BMW i4.
The car comes in two versions – a single-motor version that delivers 228hp to the rear wheels and weighs 1,820kg, and a dual-motor version that adds 130kg to the total weight and another 228hp for a total of 456hp. The battery pack offers either 560km or 580km of range, depending on the version.
The design of the Neta E is quite striking, with clear influences from the Ferrari Modena on the front and the Peugeot 406 Coupe on the rear. From the side, the car bears resemblance to the Mazda MX6. It is a good-looking coupe, with a small trunk lid similar to the coupes of the past, making the chassis stiffer but access to the trunk trickier.
As of now, not much more information is available about the Neta E, but it is set to launch soon and Hozon Auto will put on a show to celebrate the only electric coupe in China. With no competition in its niche, it will be interesting to see how customers respond to it.
