Honda NSX has been known as one of Honda’s sports cars that has a very thick characteristic. Currently, the Honda NSX has entered the second generation which has been circulating since 2016. This means that this year 2022 has entered its sixth age, so the news about the successor of the NSX also continues to blow.
In a report released by Nikkei Asia on Monday (26/9/2022), the latest generation of Honda’s iconic sports car will reportedly be a pure electric car. This step taken by Honda is also in line with the company’s plan which is indeed on the road to electrification and makes the NSX the right project to carry it all out.
Honda itself until 2030 is planned to present up to 30 new electric cars. Even Honda has targeted sales of up to 2 million electric cars worldwide. Even so, until now there is no plan to develop the latest generation NSX which will be based on the electric car.
There are other allegations that later the latest Honda NSX will use a new platform called e:architecture which was prepared as an electric car. This latest platform will not only be used by Honda, but will also be used by their sub-brand in the United States, Acura, which will also present the twin of the NSX for the United States market.
Vice President of Acura, Jon Ikeda said that the e:architecture platform will come with the use of a powertrain and battery which in addition to producing large power, also provides a longer distance. In addition, this platform, which will be used as the basis for the latest generation of Honda NSX, also produces car handling or control that emphasizes a more Fun To Drive driving feeling in an electric car.
Although it is not yet known when the latest generation of Honda NSX with this electric engine will be launched, but many predict that 2024 will be the year when this latest generation of Honda NSX can be launched. This is related to the trial period of the e:Architecture platform which at least takes between 1 to 2 years as stated by the CEO of Honda, Toshihiro Mibe.
