Honda CEO, Toshiro Mibe criticized Toyota’s plans related to the development of hydrogen-fueled car technology.

Citing Automotive News, Toshiro Mibe explained that the current hydrogen-fueled car will not have a greater impact than the electric car that is currently busy.

“We have researched every possibility that is out there. Regarding the hydrogen engine, we saw some quite difficult technological challenges. So, about 10 years ago, we decided this should not be the main goal,” said Toshiro Mibe.

In addition, Toshiro Mibe said that the current technology trend is the development of electric vehicles that rely on batteries as the main power source.

“If you look at the current trend, less mobility is electric cars and fuel cells for greater mobility,” added Mibe.

Honda is known to plan to sell 100 percent electric cars by 2040 for the North American auto market.

“Honda plans to make battery- and fuel-cell-based electric vehicles to represent 100 percent of its vehicle sales by 2040, and grow from sales of 40 percent in 2030 and 80 percent in 2035,” said Mibe.
