Austrian logistics company Hödlmayr is set to launch the nation’s first electric truck for car transport this month. The vehicle will operate between the Magna plant and Hödlmayr’s facility in Graz, marking a milestone in sustainable logistics for the region.

The electric truck, with an estimated range of 300 kilometers, is the result of meticulous planning. Hödlmayr stated that extensive analysis of the route and operational requirements was conducted to optimize charging schedules. The truck will be charged for one hour during breaks between production shifts and fully recharged overnight while parked.

Hödlmayr’s CEO, Johannes Alexander Hödlmayr, praised the collaboration involved in the project: “The values of cooperation and teamwork guide our daily work at Hödlmayr. This project has once again shown that we can rely on our partners. I would like to thank Daimler Trucks, the superstructure manufacturer Kässbohrer, and the charging infrastructure provider Siemens for their successful collaboration. Together, we have taken an important first step towards sustainable vehicle logistics.”

While Hödlmayr has not disclosed the specific model of the electric truck, images in the company’s announcement suggest it is likely the eActros 300, introduced by Daimler Truck in 2022. The vehicle’s specialized body was supplied by Kässbohrer, tailored to meet the demands of car transport.
