Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle brand LiveWire has filed a U.S. trademark for the name “S4 Honcho,” signaling a possible new model that could expand its lineup beyond urban-focused bikes.
The application, submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, covers “electric motorcycles and structural parts therefor.” While the filing does not provide technical details, the “S4” designation suggests the model could represent a larger, more premium platform compared with LiveWire’s current offerings.
LiveWire now markets two platforms: the flagship LiveWire One and the more adaptable S2 line, which underpins the Del Mar, Mulholland and Alpinista models. The company has already teased a forthcoming S3 line of smaller, more affordable motorcycles. An S4 platform, paired with the “Honcho” name, could point toward a touring or adventure-style bike, or possibly a full-size electric cruiser aimed at Harley-Davidson’s traditional riders.
Still, analysts note that trademark filings do not guarantee production. Manufacturers frequently register names as a precaution, and some never reach the market. Yet, the filing adds weight to earlier indications that LiveWire is considering a premium flagship platform in its long-term roadmap.
LiveWire, which has faced sluggish sales of its larger electric motorcycles, is banking on expanding its range to compete as more manufacturers enter the commuter and mid-sized e-motorcycle market.
