GWM ORA’s debut model, the ORA Funky Cat, has achieved remarkable results in Europe’s rigorous environmental performance tests conducted by Green NCAP. These evaluations encompassed three vital metrics: clean air, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emissions. The ORA Funky Cat excelled with scores of 10/10, 9.5/10, and 9.8/10 in these respective categories.

These outstanding scores culminated in an impressive overall rating of 97%, comfortably securing a 5-star Green NCAP rating for the ORA Funky Cat. Notably, the vehicle achieved a grid-to-battery output efficiency of 93.2% during 11kW charging, one of the highest efficiency scores ever recorded by Green NCAP. This figure represents how efficiently the battery receives energy from the grid, with a higher value indicating minimal energy loss during charging.

Toby Marshall, Managing Director of GWM ORA UK, expressed satisfaction with the results, stating, “We’re really pleased with the latest results from Green NCAP, not only did ORA Funky Cat achieve a 5-star green rating, it also set a new best value figure among Green NCAP tested vehicles. This rating is testament to the quality of the GWM ORA engineering teams and the work they put in to ensuring we deliver the best quality products to our customers.”

Additionally, the ORA Funky Cat demonstrated impressive driving efficiency, boasting an average energy efficiency of 19.1kWh/100km, including results from the demanding Highway Test. The vehicle achieved a perfect 10/10 score for both its standard laboratory test with a cold powertrain start and the warm start test, recording a consumption figure of 15.9kWh/100km in both cases.

Dr. Aleksandar Damyanov, Green NCAP Technical Manager, commented on the results, noting, “Some of the vehicles tested clearly demonstrate the achievements made by industry in the quest for cleaner and less climate-damaging cars… the high scores of the five-star Chinese newcomers show they are ready to compete for market share.”

Furthermore, Green NCAP conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to assess each vehicle’s overall environmental impact. ORA Funky Cat stood out by scoring favorably in Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Primary Energy Demand, surpassing many of its petrol and battery-electric counterparts. The vehicle achieved an average life cycle greenhouse gas emissions rating of 112.9 gCO2/km, with energy supply accounting for 49% of climate-changing gas emissions.

Last year, GWM ORA achieved notable success in Euro NCAP safety tests. ORA Funky Cat secured the highest score in the ‘Small Family Car’ category, earning a full five-star rating and the coveted ‘best-in-class’ title for its performance in Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable User Protection, and Safety Assist technologies.
