Gruber Logistics, a transport company based in South Tyrol, is set to expand its fleet by 50 electric trucks in the next two years. The European logistics firm has opted for a multi-brand strategy for its fleet expansion and will source the trucks from manufacturers Volvo, Scania, and Iveco. The vehicles, with a total weight of 44 tonnes and a range of 300 to 350 km, will be primarily used in Germany, but also in Italy, Poland, and the Benelux countries.
The decision to go with these three brands is a result of Gruber Logistics’ long-standing partnership with them. The company has been involved in vehicle development and prototyping projects with these manufacturers, ensuring that the heavy-duty e-trucks will not just be a simple purchase, but a continuation of their collaboration.

According to Stefan Knapp, Executive Director Fleet at Gruber Logistics, the investment in electric trucks is a continuation of their journey towards decarbonization, and they believe that there will be a mix of environmentally friendly fuels and technologies in the future, including electric and hydrogen solutions.
Gruber Logistics plans to take a holistic approach to electric trucks, including the expansion of their own charging infrastructure, though details have yet to be released. This move follows their previous use of alternative fuels like bio-LNG and biodiesel.
