Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Tank brand has unveiled the updated Tank 500 SUV, refreshing one of its most prominent models with hybrid powertrains and upgraded technology.
The hybrid version of the off-road SUV was launched at an event on Thursday, starting at RMB 335,000 ($46,820). The new entry price is RMB 25,000, or nearly 7%, lower than the RMB 360,000 pre-sales figure announced earlier this month. Tank is offering two Hi4-T variants and one Hi4-Z variant, priced at RMB 335,000, RMB 355,000, and RMB 375,000, respectively.

Both hybrid models combine a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor. The Hi4-T uses a single motor producing 130 kW, with a total system output of 310 kW and acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
It is fitted with a 37.1-kWh battery pack, offering a WLTC range of 110 km and a combined driving range of 900 km. The higher-performance Hi4-Z variant employs dual motors with 635 kW system output, reaching 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Its 59.05-kWh battery enables a WLTC range of 201 km and a total range of 1,096 km.

The updated Tank 500 also integrates Great Wall Motor’s Coffee Pilot Ultra advanced driver assistance system, powered by Nvidia’s Orin-X AI chip. Available on the higher-priced variants, it features a 128-channel LiDAR, multiple radars, and 11 high-definition cameras, supporting navigation-on-autopilot without high-definition maps, as well as automated and memory parking.
