Gogoro, renowned for its electric scooters and innovative battery-swapping ecosystem, has recently announced an extended collaboration with Bikebank in Korea. This partnership aims to introduce Gogoro services to Korean consumers under the brand name Dotstation, building upon their previous successful ventures in the B2B market.
Bikebank, a company specializing in micromobility solutions, initially catered to couriers but has now established Dotstation, a subsidiary focused on serving consumers exclusively in collaboration with Gogoro. Dotstation is actively working alongside the Ministry of Environment and local governments to establish battery-swapping stations and promote sustainable transportation across the country.
Minkyu Kim, CEO of Bikebank, expressed his enthusiasm about the joint effort, stating, “Together with Gogoro, we are accelerating the transformation of urban mobility in Korea. We created Dotstation to lead us forward into a new era of sustainable urban transportation that provides a path for Korean consumers to embrace sustainability in a new and practical way. Dotstation is expanding Gogoro battery swapping services to eight Korean cities, and we anticipate launching more battery swapping locations this year.”
While Gogoro and Bikebank have not disclosed projected sales figures for scooters purchased through DotStation, Bikebank has already opened two Dotstation retail stores and expanded its battery-swapping network to encompass over 70 stations in cities such as Daegu, Sejong, Changwon, Incheon, Gyeongsan, Gyeonggi, and Ulsan.
Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro, expressed his excitement about the growing partnership with Bikebank, emphasizing their shared values and commitment to accelerating the adoption of electric transportation in Korea. He also highlighted Seoul’s significant presence in the global food delivery industry, with Gogoro’s battery swapping gaining early acceptance for food deliveries in the city.
Gogoro initially entered the Seoul market for food deliveries in 2019 through a partnership with TIC Corporations, which seems to have transitioned to Bikebank since then. The company introduced the Gogoro 2 Utility scooter, specifically designed for logistics and delivery fleets in the B2B sector. This collaboration between Gogoro and Bikebank has also attracted leading food delivery companies in Korea, including Logiall and Manna Plus.
Gogoro’s battery-swapping network, known as the Gogoro Network, currently boasts over 12,000 stations spread across more than 2,500 locations in Taiwan. According to company data, this network supports over 540,000 riders and has facilitated over 465 million total battery swaps, resulting in the reduction of more than 650,000 tons of CO2 emissions since its inception. As Gogoro expands its reach to Korea through the partnership with Bikebank, the company is poised to contribute significantly to sustainable urban mobility in the country.
