GMC and EarthCruiser Collaborate to Introduce Overlanding Upgrade for Hummer EV

GMC and EarthCruiser have unveiled a rendered image providing a clear glimpse of their upcoming collaboration for the Hummer EV. The render showcases more details about the final product, especially when compared to an earlier teaser released this year. The production version of this upgraded Hummer EV is scheduled to hit the market in early 2024.

Back in late March, GMC and EarthCruiser announced their joint venture to create an up-fitted overlanding upgrade for the Hummer EV. However, the initial announcement only offered a dark image, revealing little about the vehicle’s appearance. Now, the new render showcases the sleek SUV-esque back half of the concept, which incorporates a pop-up tent.

In the rendered image, the pickup appears ready for an adventurous night. The pop-up camper features storage compartments flanking each side and flood lights to illuminate the surroundings. Notably, the design doesn’t seem to allow for stargazing from the pop-up area while lying down.

The original teaser image indicated that EarthCruiser is likely to add solar panels to the top of the housing. Additionally, the platform extending from the end of the pop-up section could serve various purposes, including stargazing or housing essential overlanding equipment. The exact use of this space remains a topic of speculation.

Overlanding typically involves carrying all necessary supplies within a single vehicle. Thus, it is possible that this section could accommodate additional battery power, water storage, or other essential gear. However, the specific details about this feature are yet to be disclosed.

Considering that the Hummer EV is already a heavy vehicle, the addition of EarthCruiser’s upgrades is likely to add weight to the overall vehicle. Both GMC and EarthCruiser have mentioned that further details about the collaboration will be revealed as the year progresses. They have also confirmed that customers can expect this up-fitting solution to be available in early 2024.

As anticipation builds, enthusiasts are eager to see how this partnership will enhance the Hummer EV’s capabilities for overlanding adventures.
