Recalling or withdrawing units that are damaged during production is the responsibility of each manufacturer. Tesla as one of the leading electric car manufacturers also does this.

This is in order to provide maximum service to consumers. For recall matters, Tesla entrusted General Motors with repairing the electric vehicle.

Quoted from CarScoops, GM claims that its dealers have repaired more than 11,000 Tesla EVs nationwide since 2021. The business is growing and comes at a time when Tesla is still perfecting its own service model.

At the Detroit automaker Investor Day event on Thursday (17/11/2022), in New York City, General Motors revealed a new source of revenue, namely repairing Tesla’s electric cars.

GM President Mark Reuss said that it was a very profitable business while talking to investors and analysts.

“It is a growing business for us. I have to say this is a new business,” he said

Tesla vehicle servicing can be unpredictable, but it’s easy to see the benefits for both parties. General Motors is getting an unexpected stream of revenue and revenue.

From the customer’s point of view, they don’t have to wait for a long turnaround time by going through the Tesla service itself. This makes consumers of the famous electric car from the United States have no problem if they are hit by a recall.

Although Tesla has its own service centers, there are not as many of them as GM dealers. That could be one reason why many Tesla customers report long wait times for service appointments.

Having the ability to complete a service in one day affects customer satisfaction in a big way. That’s why Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a big push to improve the service experience for customers earlier this year.
