Vay, a German remote driving company, announced plans to expand its presence in Las Vegas by increasing its fleet to 100 vehicles by the end of the year. The announcement coincides with CES 2025, where the company highlighted its progress since launching U.S. operations a year ago.

The company has secured a new production facility in Las Vegas to accelerate vehicle deployment. The 8,500-square-foot site will enable Vay to process up to 16 vehicles weekly, supporting its growth across the U.S. market. “This investment represents a significant milestone for Vay’s growth and will play a crucial role in scaling our offerings,” said Thomas Von der Ohe, CEO and co-founder.

Vay’s service allows customers to summon electric vehicles via an app, which are then remotely driven to their location by operators using a teledrive system. Once the customer takes over the vehicle, they drive to their destination, after which the remote driver resumes control. The service is operational in central Las Vegas, including the Strip, and aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional ride-sharing.

Over the past year, Vay has completed 6,000 trips in Las Vegas, prompting the fleet expansion. The company also announced plans to recruit additional remote drivers, who will undergo training at its Remote Driving Academy. Future developments include expanding into remote truck operations, a service expected to launch soon as part of its business-to-business offerings.

Vay’s innovative approach to mobility is supported by a $37 million loan from the European Investment Bank, enabling it to further its mission to transform urban transportation. “This expansion ensures a seamless experience for everyone requesting our vehicles,” Von der Ohe added.
