Hyundai’s premium brand Genesis has unveiled a facelift of its Electrified G80 sedan, featuring a larger battery, extended wheelbase, and a suite of design and technology upgrades. The revised model will go on sale in the UK starting June 2025, the company said.

Originally introduced in 2021, the Electrified G80 was Genesis’s first electric sedan, built on the existing G80 combustion model. The facelift brings a new 94.5 kWh battery—up from the previous 87.2 kWh pack—which enables an estimated range of up to 570 kilometres on a full charge under WLTP standards.

Genesis said the vehicle can be recharged from 10 to 80 per cent in about 25 minutes. The maximum charging capacity was not disclosed, but the company noted that the previous model could reach 80 per cent in just 22 minutes, suggesting similar charging speeds despite the increase in battery size.

The updated model also adds practical enhancements. A battery heating function has been included to improve charging performance in cold weather, and the charging port now features built-in lighting and an electric flap that can be opened with a button press.

Design changes include a refined front grille, updated 19-inch alloy wheels, and new multi-lens array (MLA) headlights, which Genesis claims offer improved illumination. Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with redesigned seating for improved comfort and a 27-inch OLED display that merges the infotainment and instrument cluster into a single unit. A 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Dolby Atmos support comes as standard.

In a move rarely seen in facelifts, Genesis has extended the car’s wheelbase by 13 centimetres. “The longer wheelbase is not due to the new battery, but rather to enhance the sedan’s flagship status,” the company said.

Genesis has yet to announce pricing details for the UK or German markets, where the updated model is also scheduled to launch in June.
