General Motors (GM) has initiated a safety recall for 265 units of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, and 2024 GMC Terrain. The recall stems from defective door strikers that were improperly installed due to a heat treatment flaw during assembly at the San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is cooperating with GM in addressing this issue, which came to light after an internal investigation prompted by customer complaints. While there have been no reported accidents related to the defect, the faulty door strikers raise concerns about potential door opening during a crash or while driving.

This safety recall follows GM’s recent decision to halt all deliveries of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV just before Christmas due to software issues. The software problems affected not only the Blazer EV but also other implicated vehicles. GM plans to contact affected consumers promptly, offering complimentary repairs at authorized GM dealerships.

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, a highly anticipated all-electric vehicle, has faced a series of challenges since its launch. Marketed as a revolutionary American-branded electric vehicle with competitive range and performance specifications at an affordable price, the Blazer EV encountered setbacks when initial buyers reported software issues, leading GM to suspend sales temporarily.
