Geely is marking its return to the Indonesian automotive market by introducing the EX5 electric SUV, which will be the first Geely vehicle assembled in the country. The EX5 will be produced at the Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) factory in Bekasi, set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025.
“Working with Handal Indonesia Motor, this factory will begin operations in the second quarter of 2025. The new facility will support growing global demand for the Geely EX5 and set new standards for electric vehicles in Indonesia,” said Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Auto International Corporation.

Geely, which also owns the premium electric car brand Zeekr, aims to bolster its eco-friendly vehicle offerings in Indonesia. “We want to emphasize Geely’s vision to lead mobility innovation and contribute to Indonesia’s economic and technological development. This launch marks a new chapter in Geely’s journey as a global leader in intelligent mobility,” Ye added. Geely also announced plans to open 100 dealerships across major cities in Indonesia within the next three years.
The EX5 is built on Geely’s Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, designed for markets beyond China, including Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia. The model offers four driving modes—Eco, Normal, Comfort, and Sport—and features a 60.22 kWh short blade battery, enabling a driving range of up to 495 kilometers on a full charge. It delivers 214 hp (217 PS) and 320 Nm of peak torque and supports both DC fast charging and AC home charging, with 30% to 80% charge completed in just 20 minutes.

Safety features include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Blind-Spot Monitoring (BSM). The EX5 also comes with a 14-inch display powered by Meizu’s Flyme Auto OS for an enhanced user experience.
