Geely Auto’s sub-brand Geely Galaxy opened pre-sales for its M7 plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle on Thursday, as the automaker seeks to strengthen its position in China’s competitive mass-market segment.
The mid-size SUV is offered in three variants with pre-sale prices starting at 139,800 yuan ($20,450), rising to 146,800 yuan and 156,800 yuan for higher trims.
The M7 measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm.
Geely said the vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter Leishen EM hybrid engine delivering 82 kilowatts of maximum power and thermal efficiency of 47.26%.
The M7 offers battery pack options of 18.4 kilowatt-hours and 29.8 kilowatt-hours, enabling a maximum battery-only driving range of 225 kilometers under China’s CLTC testing standard.
Combined range reaches 1,730 kilometers with a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, according to the company.
The automaker said the SUV can charge from 30% to 80% in around 15 minutes using fast charging.
The model includes Geely’s Flyme Auto 2 cockpit software and G-ASD H3 driver-assistance system, which supports navigation-assisted driving on highways and elevated roads.
The M7 enters China’s highly competitive 100,000 yuan to 150,000 yuan family vehicle segment, where established rivals include the Song lineup from Chinese competitor BYD.
The launch comes as plug-in hybrid vehicles become an increasingly important sales driver for Geely in its domestic market.
