For automotive experts, the best electric supercar is currently held by Rimac Nevera. This can be seen from the design made, performance to its ability on the highway and the support for features that are fairly complete in it. But recently, an automotive company from China GAC Aion has just released an electric supercar that also has “savage” performance.
The supercar comes with the name Hyper SSR and was launched at an event in Guangzhou, China, last week. The interesting thing about this Hyper SSR is the ability of the electric motor that produces power up to 1,225 hp with a peak torque of 12,000 Nm. Even on paper, the Hyper SSR can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower than the Rimac Nevera.
In addition to its fantastic performance figures, the Hyper SSR also offers a fairly intimidating exterior appearance. The whole body is dominated by bold lines and the front fascia which features LED lights with a modern design. In addition, to achieve maximum performance the Hyper SSR is also built with carbon fiber material and there is a large diffuser at the back.
An equally interesting part of the Hyper SSR is also the butterfly door design and makes it look sexier when both doors are opened upwards. Turning to the inside of the Hyper SSR we will be presented with the feel of a luxury supercar with bright blue accents throughout the cabin. Carrying a two-passenger configuration, the Hyper SSR features bucket seats with a two-tone theme and a square-shaped steering wheel.
Meanwhile, in terms of rider comfort, it will be presented by a 14.6-inch touch screen in the middle of the dashboard with some standard facilities such as a music player, radio and maps. Meanwhile, vehicle information and performance displays will be presented on an 8.8-inch cluster meter screen. It is not yet known whether the Hyper SSR is also equipped with the latest semi-autonomous features, but looking at the concept it offers, it feels more suitable to be ridden on a circuit.
GAC Aion will present two choices of Hyper SSR variants, namely with an all-wheel drive system and rear-wheel drive. In the AWD variant, consumers have to make up for it at a price of 1.7 million Yuan. While the RWD or rear-wheel drive variant is priced at 1.3 million Yuan. However, the RWD variant has a slower acceleration of about 1 second than the AWD variant.
At the introduction event last week, a number of consumers were also able to order the Hyper SSR and the GAC Aion reportedly starting the production process in October 2023. There is also no detailed information whether this vehicle will be marketed outside China in the near future.
