At the 2022 Guangzhou Auto Show, GAC Aion unveiled the Hyper GT and began accepting pre-orders. The Hyper GT is an electric midsized coupe based on Aion’s AEP 3.0 platform. GAC Aion claims that the Hyper GT has the lowest drag coefficient of any production car in the world at 0.19 Cd, surpassing the previous record held by the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan with a 0.20 Cd drag coefficient.
The Hyper GT’s design heavily emphasizes aerodynamics, which is apparent in its exterior design and unique proportions. It is the first car to feature a fully enclosed front fascia with a Wind Blade Grille that automatically opens at high speeds to reduce drag and wind resistance. Additionally, the Wind Spoiler rises at speeds above 80 km/h to effectively direct airflow and generate downforce, improving handling and steering while cornering.
GAC Aion Hyper GTequipped with Fengyun III satellite infrared remote sensing technology, which enables it to detect life forms in poor weather conditions such as haze and sand. The vehicle is available in two styles, offering the option of either three LiDARs or one LiDAR on the roof.
The body of the Hyper GT is designed to resemble liquid metal and features hidden door handles, butterfly doors, and 19″ six-spoke turbo wheels. Its unique electrode headlights differ from traditional penetrating headlights. In terms of performance, the single-motor version of the Hyper GT boasts a maximum power output of 250 kW and peak torque of 434 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. GAC Aion plans to release at least two new models annually.
