In a bid to enhance safety, comfort, and versatility, the latest Fuso eCanter, a derivative of the popular Fuso Canter, has undergone significant updates following its launch in 2023. Manufactured by Mitsubishi Fuso, a subsidiary of Daimler, this electric light-duty truck has quickly garnered attention for its innovative features and eco-friendly design.

One of the most notable improvements in the 2024 model is the enhanced safety features. With additional sensors and cameras, the new eCanter boasts eight updated safety systems, including the improved Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6). This system can now detect bicycles and stationary pedestrians, in addition to vehicles, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

Furthermore, the eCanter now includes a speed limit indicator that alerts drivers when they exceed the speed limit, providing both visual and acoustic warnings. A rear camera has also been added to aid in reversing, minimizing the risk of collisions with pedestrians or objects in the blind spot.

Among the new safety systems is the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), which warns drivers of vehicles in their blind spots, and the Front Protection Assist, which alerts drivers to pedestrians or cyclists in front of the vehicle, especially at speeds below 10 kph. The Attention Assist feature prompts drivers to remain attentive and suggests taking breaks when necessary, while the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts drivers to any loss of tyre pressure. Additionally, the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) activates the rear warning light in the event of sudden braking, reducing the risk of rear-end collisions.

In terms of comfort, the 2024 eCanter now includes cruise control, making highway driving more relaxed for drivers. Future updates will also see improvements in the styling department, with the adoption of sequential turn signals in the rear.

Mitsubishi Fuso produces the eCanter for European markets in Tramagal, Portugal. The eCanter builds on the success of the Canter, which has been a best-seller for over six decades, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

With these updates, the Fuso eCanter continues to lead the way in the electric light-duty truck segment, offering customers a safer, more comfortable, and versatile driving experience.
